How asset management helps

Asset management is the inventory behind the rest of the programme. An incident names a service. A supplier supports a system. A control protects something. The register is where those things are named, owned, and marked for how serious a disruption would be.

What the register shows

Each asset has a name, a tag or ID, a type, a classification, a criticality, a status, an owner, and a location. The overview counts how many assets are on the register, how many are active, how many are high criticality, and how many are software.

High criticality is the count of assets whose criticality is high. Software is the count whose type is software. The other types, classifications, criticality levels, and statuses are the lists you keep in configuration, so the register uses the same words everywhere.

When you need to change it

The asset register, the asset overview, and asset configuration describe the list, the counts, and the dictionaries.
