How to Edit Documents in the ISMSVision Library

Edit document updates the logical record: title, version label, document type, status, accountable owner, review dates, custom attributes, and—when needed—a replacement file sent as multipart form data. Requires document_management:edit_documents.

Open the editor

From the library table, choose Actions → Edit document on the row you are allowed to change. The modal mirrors the fields you set at upload time so governance stays consistent.

Metadata-only changes

You may adjust ownership or next review without touching the file—use this after committee approval when the PDF is unchanged but responsibility moves to a new role holder.

When to attach a new file in Edit

If your process combines metadata correction and a new binary in one step, pick a file in the edit modal. For a clean semver bump with optional version notes, many teams prefer Upload new version instead—use whichever matches your change-management checklist.

Custom attributes

Administrators configure custom fields (for example classification or control mapping). Edit preserves JSON-shaped values so reporting across your ISMS stays aligned with the risk register.

After save

The library refreshes; the table shows updated size and timestamps. Errors from validation or storage appear inline—address them and submit again.
